I actually really like this show. I think the problem is that whenever a show is rebooted it is compared to the original which is a mistake. You have to look at these as two different shows. Jay Hernandez’s Magnum and Tom Selleck’s Magnum and two different guys, and the rest of the cast and overall storyline are different two. That’s how reboots work. If you make everything exactly the same, what is the point of the reboot? You could just watch reruns and be satisfied. There are going to be changes to the overall plot, the relationship of the cast members, and how the new cast behaves as new versions of the old characters. But, I love that they kept one of the greatest theme songs in history the same!

I like that the show is a relatively wholesome PI show, and I enjoy the journey of each episode. The only gripe that I have against the show is that the minor actors in each episode are pretty bad at acting for the most part. The regular cast is great, but each new suspect and especially each new victim are awful. However, it’s not bad enough for me to stop watching. On the one hand it’s good that they give a chance to new and unrecognized faces, but they need to raise the bar just a little as far as their abilities are concerned. Still, I give it ten stars and I hope that it will be on for a while. CBS has been turning out a lot of stuff that is a lot of junk in my opinion, but this is one of the good ones.
