Lost Girls and Love Hotels Movie Download (2020) {English With Subtitles} 480p | 720p | 1080p

There seems to be a genre getting born, starring beautiful Western women in Japan, feeling uprooted and out of place and having almost romances. They are heavy in symbolism, with a lot of meaningful and slow scenes that are all in the details. Then you either get it or you don’t. Lost in Translation was like that, Lost Girls and Love Hotels is like that.

It is really well acted by all actors, Japanese included, very well shot and it is a slow exploration of one’s “specialness”. It features people trying to get sober by drinking more, feeling happy-sad and fernweh and the occasional sex scene in lurid hotels. It’s all about the mood.

Did I understand it? Only partially. It is one of those movies that ends with you asking what the hell did it all mean. But I do understand the characters, that pain and pleasure of not being anchored anymore, of being lost but hoping to be found, I’ve been there. There is the mirror feeling, the one where you long to anchor people like that. Been there, too. Probably the novel adds more detail, but the movie was good enough. With the right mindset it’s beautiful and it does NOT deserve a 4 on IMDb. As most interesting art, it’s one of those that you either love or hate. I reserve the right to remain in the middle. I can’t recommend it, but it is bound to generate a lot of love with a part of the audience, so why not try it?
