I saw this movie at the Busan International Film Festival this week. I didn’t know much about it beforehand and wasn’t sure what to expect. But, wow, it really impressed me. I immediately added it to my “Top 10 Favorite Movies of all Time” list.

Firstly, Mads Mikkelsen is an amazing actor and the perfect choice for Ludvig Kahlen’s role. He stands out, especially in scenes where he conveys pure emotion with just his facial expressions, no words needed. There’s a scene at the end where he’s alone in his farmhouse, eating at a table, and the camera zooms in on his face. It’s a powerful scene, saying so much without any words. He’s a superb actor.

The movie takes you through a rollercoaster of emotions: anger, hatred, sadness, frustration, disgust, joy, relief… I felt it all.

I strongly disliked the villain, played by Simon Bennebjerg, who was also perfectly cast. You start hating his character early on because of his arrogance, greed, and disrespect for everyone around him. He becomes a really despicable character.

After watching the movie, my friend and I had a long talk about human greed and what drives us in life. Is it worth betraying, letting down, or losing loved ones for titles, money, or fame?

I’d give it a 10 out of 10, definitely worth every second.
