This is my favorite show of the year! For starters, the comedy is great and guaranteed to make you laugh. The story was originally told in a 4-panel comic format, so there is no shortage of little gags and punchlines. But don’t get the wrong idea, the show is able to dive into characters backgrounds, their thoughts and feelings, show their strengths and flaws. We get to see characters have significant character development as they learn about themselves and others and reflect on their mistakes.

It is refreshing to have a story where you aren’t shouting at the screen, “Just tell him/her how you feel! Just say it!” (Not a spoiler, it’s the opening scene/premise for the show) In the very first opening scene, Tomo confesses her love for Jun, but Jun friendzones her. So instead of the “should I tell him/her” “I want to tell him/her” narrative, it instead is about how Tomo is trying to be more girly to get Jun to notice her as more than “one of the guys” or “bro.”

I greatly enjoyed the beautiful animation. Every scene, background, object, and of course character is beautifully drawn. I have listened to the English dub, and the voice acting was great and really brought the characters to life. I will be rewatching the series in Japanese with English subtitles soon.
